Turano Lake Trek & Kayak
Hike kayak but also food and wine!
Want to be in harmony amid body and spirit, nature and sport? Lake Turano is waiting for you. A dazzling lake at around 1900 feet above sea level with the peaks of the “Monti Navegna and Cervia nature reserve” reflected in its waters, and a scattering of beautiful medieval hamlets dotted around it. With every season, the authentic colors, and those reflected in the lake, compete with each other in a battle of nature which is a must-see encounter.
Walking through the village of Posticciola and along the “S. Benedict way” until we reach the base of the impressive dam built in the 1930’s. We’ll proceed lake-side to Castel di Tora, a pretty hamlet included in the listings of "most beautiful villages in Italy". Well worth a visit. On the other side of the lake we can admire Colle di Tora, a characteristic village born in the tenth/eleventh century as protection from the threats of the Saracens, with its typical pea bean crops, a specialty of the area which is celebrated yearly with a village festival.
Time for the food and wine experience. We have the choice of family run restaurants with lake views, typical homemade cuisine with local products such as handmade pasta, grilled meat, home made bread baked in a wood oven and home grown vegetables.
Afternoon is for kayaking in the spectacular colors of the valley. An unmissable experience.
